Discover the best of South Australia with Captain Cook Cruises new six, seven or ten-night Adelaide Sightseeing and Murray Princess cruise packages.
All packages include a three-night stay at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel, Adelaide, a half day Adelaide City Highlights tour, a three, four or seven-night cruise aboard paddlewheeler, PS Murray Princess and a day trip to the Barossa Valley.
The six night/seven-day package includes three nights at Mercure Grosvenor, a half day Adelaide City Highlights tour, followed by a three-night Murray Princess Discovery Cruise and a full day Barossa and Hahndorf Highlights tour.
The Adelaide City Highlights tour features expert commentary by a local driver and explores Adelaide’s main attractions including Adelaide’s cultural boulevard of North Terrace home to the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, The University of Adelaide and the National Wine Centre. Then visit St Peter’s Cathedral; historic North Adelaide; the famous Adelaide Oval and Haigh’s Chocolates for a factory tour and tastings.
The three-night Discovery cruise visits the township of Murray Bridge, or the unique Monarto Zoo on a private Monarto Zoo Wildlife Tour (the tour is an additional $60 per person). Enjoy a guided nature walk at Salt Bush Flat and at River View Lodge get up close to the river, its 20-million-year-old cliffs and amazing birdlife including darters, herons and egrets on the ‘Dragon-Fly’ Flat Bottomed Boat.
Onboard, learn more about the Murray and Riverland regions and sample some of the local produce and wines with a structured tasting event held in the Sturt Dining Room. Join the Captain for a general inspection of the wheelhouse, participate in a lively quiz, play some bocce on the riverbank, try some fishing off the side of the ship or simply relax on the open top deck, or in one of two air-conditioned paddlewheel lounges displaying views of the working paddle wheel.
Following the cruise enjoy a Barossa and Hahndorf Highlights tour. On this tour visit the world-famous Jacobs Creek Visitor Centre and Saltram Wine Estate to sample some of the Barossa's finest wines. Enjoy a sumptuous two course lunch at the South Australian Company Store, then sit back and relax as the tour passes through the picturesque Adelaide Hills to Hahndorf, Adelaide's oldest German settlement. Here explore the many picturesque cafes, shops and galleries full of local arts, crafts and German produce.
The seven night/eight-day package includes three nights at Mercure Grosvenor, a half day Adelaide City Highlights tour, a four-night Outback Heritage cruise and a full day Barossa Food and Wine experience.
The four-night Outback Heritage cruise explores the Murray River from Mannum to Blanchetown and visits Burk Salter Winery, Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Conservation Reserve, the township of Swan Reach and its museum and the Native Wildlife Shelter. Cruise through Lock #1 at Blanchetown, see the Sunnydale Woolshed Sheep Shearing Show and enjoy a delicious Aussie-style barbecue dinner and bush dance on the river bank.
The scenery is picturesque as the Murray Princess cruises past towering limestone cliffs, through picturesque gorges and along riverbanks lined with mallee scrub, red gum forests and century old stone causeways.
After the cruise, enjoy another night at The Mercure Grosvenor before indulging in some of the Barossa’s finest wines and gourmet food on the full day, Barossa Valley Food and Wine Experience.
On this tour visit cellar doors including the intimate TeAro Estate, Williamstown where guests will also enjoy morning tea and stop in at the award winning Pindarie Cellar Door, Gomersal. Be treated to a delicious two-course lunch at Lambert Estate, Angaston, take in the views from the lookout at Mengler Hill and visit Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop to sample her amazing food products.

The seven-night Upper Murraylands cruise explores the northern area of the Murray River from Mannum to Morgan, before returning to Mannum.
The cruise visits historic towns including picturesque Waikerie, Morgan and Swan Reach. Wine lovers can indulge with lunch and wine tastings at Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre, and cellar door tastings at Burk Salter Boutique Winery and Caudo Winery.
